Preschool  & Toddlers

Dinosaurs: Dinosaurs are quite a mystery! Learn more about these enormous creatures of the past though stories and pictures. Participants will have an opportunity to craft a dinosaur creation to take home. 

Dr. Seuss: Dr. Seuss helped make reading fun and exciting for children of all ages. Join us as we celebrate Dr. Seuss through stories and songs. Participants will craft a Seuss inspired creation sure to please. 

Fingerprint Fun: Detectives often use fingerprints to help solve mysteries. Join us for a morning of fingerprint fun as we share Ed Emberley's Thumbprint art books and then create fingerprint art of our own. 

Fish Tales: Solve the mystery of the deep sea and join us for an underwater adventure as we share fish tales, sing sea shanties, and set off for a morning of fish filled fun! Participants will have an opportunity to create a craft to take home. 

Love the Library: Are you curious about all the library has to offer this summer? Join us for a kickoff celebration for the library's summer reading club program.

Mother's Day: Preschool: It's time to let Mom know just how much you care! Children ages 3 to 5 years are invited to join us for a morning of tea and tales as we celebrate Mother's Day.

Pirates: Ahoy, Mateys! Pirates ages 3-5 are needed for an afternoon of fun and excitement as we share swashbuckling tales, sea shanties, and pirate goodies. Sea faring adventures will make a pirate treasure to take home. 

Sense Detectives: Sense detectives needed! We will learn about our five senses through stories and song and then use our powerful senses to sniff out mystery objects. Participants will have an opportunity to create a craft to take home. 

St Patrick's Day: Grab your green and join us for a St. Patrick's Day celebration! Participants will hear silly stories, play games, and create a lucky leprechaun to take home. 

 

School Age 

Ancient Egypt: We know a great deal about how the early Egyptians lived, but much of their history still remains a mystery. Help us solve the mystery as we share stories and explore Egyptian artifacts from the Fayetteville Art Museum. Participants will have an opportunity to create an Egyptian inspired craft to take home. 

Cam Jansen: Young Cam Jansen is a super sleuth. Join us for an afternoon of detective work as we share Cam Jansen stories and then try our hand at using her mystery solving techniques in games designed to challenge and test your crime solving capabilities. Detectives will have a chance to create a mysterious disguise to take home.

Gardens: Calling all green thumbs! Grab your gardening gear and join us for an afternoon of stories welcoming the Spring season. Participants will hear stories, examine the inner workings of sees, and plant a seed to take home and watch it grow. 

Puzzles: Puzzles provide hours of entertainment but they can be a real mystery to solve. Help unravel the mystery of puzzles with us as we share puzzling stories filled with hidden pictures, optional illusions, and cleverly camouflaged characters. Participants will have an opportunity to create their own puzzle to take home. 

Secret Codes: Shhh! It's a secret. Secret codes, ciphers, and hidden messages have been used for centuries. Now you can try your hand at creating your own! Join us as we explore various types of secret codes and create a hidden message with invisible ink. 

Sense Detectives: Sense detectives needed! Join us as we explore our five senses through stories and games. Participants will sniff out mystery objects, examine fingerprints, play sound charades, memory games and much more!

St Patrick's Day: Grab your green and join us for a St. Patrick's Day celebration! Participants will hear silly stories, play games, and create a lucky leprechaun to take home. 

 

Teen Zone

Clued: Help! A crime has been committed and only you can solve the mystery. Catch the crook in action and win prizes as we play the DVD version of Clue by Parker Brothers. 

Duct Tape: It's time to get crafty! Duct tape can be used to craft everything from flip-flops to neck ties. Join us as we solve the mystery of duct tape and create a duct tape project sure to amaze your friends and family. 

Games: Anyone care for a game of chess? Challenge your friends to a variety of games or just come to relax and hang out at our monthly Teen Zone. 

Open Mick: Poetry can help to convey your feelings, lighten a mood, or describe your surroundings. Join us as we honor the great poets of the Harlem Renaissance like Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, and Jean Toomer by reading poetry selections from some of their greatest works. Bring your own poems or well known favorites to share and enjoy with the group.  

Papier-Mâché: Get your creative juices flowing and join us as we solve the mystery of papier-mâché. Participants will craft a colorful papier-mâché candy jar. Candy included!
